Software Engineering leader with experience managing technology to support global businesses from customer experiences to warehouse management, micro-service to on-device and proof-of-concept to battle-hardened. Strong history of innovation, developing ideas and technology for some of Amazon's big bets. Proven culture leader and creator of cross-functional technical organisations.Since 2021, I have been helping build a scalable software organisation for Go1: Scalable Software, Scalable Organisation. From 2014, I was been building out Amazon's first Australian dev centre in Brisbane, Australia. One of my personal goals is to grow the tech skills and industry in Brisbane. Skilled at functionally decomposing complex problems into simple straight forward solutions, and understanding system inter-dependencies and limitations. History of designing and delivering large-scale, distributed systems using service stacks, message queues and workflow managers. I've delivered enterprise solutions in Java, Ruby, NodeJS and C++ that were deployed and used by millions of people. I supported my software from design through to maintenance and (as is customary at Amazon) took my share of oncall duty. I was scrum master and a scrum mentor.I was accepted into Amazon's hiring quality program, and was responsible for preparing interviewers and driving hire/no-hire decisions for software/hardware engineers, as well as various managerial positions (SDM, PM, TPM).I was involved in the Movember charity, and lead the Amazon.com Movember effort which raised over $163,000 in November, 2012, $76,000 in 2011 and $37,000 in 2010. I handed off the Movember leadership at Amazon in 2013.
