• Adviser: Dr. Jetze TepeResearch: My research is based around proteasome manipulation. Utilizing computer modeling, I design and synthesize small molecule heterocycles as both enhancers and inhibitors of the human.
• Solved a 7 year group “paradox” by inventing an unprecedented theoretical framework for small molecule activation of the human proteasome. Also provided the first data for predicting and explaining small molecule.
• Designed, synthesized, and tested >50 heterocyclic compounds for proteasome modulation.
• Successfully modified existing commercial phenothiazine antipsychotic to the first rationally designed proteasome activity enhancer with no detectable binding of original target.
• Developed new lab standard procedures in utilizing computational methods for designing proteasome modulators, and assay evaluation of synthesized compounds.
• Originated 3 different projects to current multi-investigator programs in the group.
