Managing the organization handling Local Search for Alexa. Three teams with ~30 engineers working on data collection, search relevance and ranking, as well as voice and UI experience on searching for nearby businesses and points of interests.

Led the Home & Local services organization of 6 teams and ~50 engineers on making Yelp not just the place to find a great restaurant but also the go-to place to find home and local pros.Starting with a small engineering team that created a feature to allow consumers and professionals to communicate via Yelp, grew to an organization that helped consumers reach out to many professionals for quotes and other information on getting home and local service projects completed.

Managing the TV UI Device Innovation team. Bringing the Netflix UI to all the latest and greatest smart TVs and tv-connected devices.The Device Innovation team is responsible for the Netflix UI on the Apple TV, Chromecast, game consoles, Rokus, Amazon Fire TV, Dish Hoppers and Joeys as well as smart TVs and blu-ray players.Managing a team of 6 senior software engineers and 3 senior QA engineers.

Managed a team of 8 engineers working on the Android WebView for the next generation Amazon Fire devices. The goal of the team was to enable HTML web applications running on the Fire devices to be first class citizens. This was done by porting the open-source Chromium code into Amazon’s version of AOSP to replace the default Webkit webview. Amazon shipped the first Android devices with Chromium webviews as well as shipping the first webviews that supported WebGL.Besides the 8 engineers on my team, I worked with another 4 engineers reporting to me for the project I was running. Within the project, I did double duty as a software development manager as well as a technical project manager. I ran the schedule and fit my team’s agile development methodology into the overall program waterfall scope.

Lead engineer for the Java UI framework on the Kindle Touch and Kindle Paperwhite.

At CloudShield, I led a project with 4 engineers in developing a large-scale cyber security application. The application, used by governments and large telcos, protected DNS servers from attack. Leading the project meant I had a large range of responsibilities. I worked with the project manager to meet with customers. I wrote the requirements document. I managed the schedule, I architected the system and I designed the UI. I also wrote the front end/UI code.

Lead on an agile project to help with the creation of rules for a rail signal system. The rule creation system was built as an Eclipse RCP application with custom development and compiler tools specific to the hardware of the rail signal system.I was responsible for all aspects of the project--from visiting users to gather requirements to leading a development team in California and India.

During my time at St. Jude, I led the development of a new test automation tool. My responsibilities included gathering requirements, managing a remote team of developers in India, as well as ensuring the tool passed FDA certification.
