About Christina Jones, Mba, Capp
Christina Jones, MBA, CAPP is a transportation management analyst with the City of Iowa City. She has long been driven by a desire for meaningful work, whether through her volunteer work promoting STEM skill development among young women and at-risk youth, her involvement with IPMI, PIPTA, SWPTA, and WTS, or by providing parking planning services to support right-sized solutions that strive to optimize community space and resources. Her skills include parking demand modeling and analysis, transportation demand management analysis, and strategic parking planning for a wide variety of projects including municipalities, airports, higher education and healthcare institutions, sports and entertainment facilities, and private developments large and small. Her experience includes shared parking modeling, GIS-based supply and demand mapping with movement and enforcement impacts, and financial feasibility modeling and analysis. A third-generation parking professional, Christina literally grew up in the parking industry, learning to drive in her grandfather’s parking garages on a propane-powered sweeper and spending summers with her grandmother and father in the office learning the administrative aspects of the family business. Her first job was working as a parking ramp attendant/cashier, moving into front line management before graduating high school, and system management while working on her bachelor’s degree from Mount Mercy College. After leaving the industry for a bit, she returned to Iowa to complete her master’s degree from the University of Dubuque and during this time worked as a parking analyst on a part-time, contracted basis. Upon graduation she jumped back into parking full-time as a planning analyst growing into the role of consultant before transitioning to the public sector. In her free time Christina enjoys spending time learning new home improvement and DIY skills and spending time with her dog, Kinnick.
