Following the successful sale of Aviate to Religare, I continued to Head the Equity Special Situations Group. Working together with Management, Corporate Banking and Research to integrate the business and leverage off the broader skill set of the group.

Aviate Asia was a specialist Pan-Asian institutional stockbroker, specialising in actionable idea generation. I joined Aviate as a Partner, mandated to build and run an Equity Special Situations business. Collaborating closely with other complimentary teams we quickly established Aviate as a broad based, boutique ideas house, differentiated from big bank "maintenance research" offerings. Following an unsolicited offer, we negotiated the sale of the business to Religare Capital Markets.

Churchill Capital is a leading global specialist hedge fund sales broker, specialising in equity event driven strategies. Churchill has offices in Australia, Singapore, Europe (London and Monaco) and the USA. I rejoined Churchill to run the Singapore Office, enhance and expand the research product, and increase the sales penetration of Churchill’s product

I was the second employee of Churchill Asia starting with zero and eventually building a 30+ team that became the largest division of Churchill Capital by revenue.

Fortrend was a boutique Melbourne based broker, specializing in International Equity research and sales to HNW individuals and small institutions. I was recruited to enhance and develop the research product, and boost the sales effort.

I developed myself professionally working as a kitchen porter, barman, unskilled labourer, handyman, breakfast chef, motorbike renter-outerer, Kibbutz volunteer, mailman in a bank, call centre ("Welcome to ANZ Cards this is Jon, how can I help you"). Finally developed a strong professional understanding that I was going to have to go get a degree.

Foster & Foster published citizens guides to local towns, so that residents could find local service providers, schools, clubs, political interest groups, societies and so on. It was pre-internet, and designed to make it easy to discover and interact with the local community and for small independent service providers to advertise their products and services.If the internet had existed this means Foster & Foster would have been Google & Facebook combined. Luckily we hadn't heard of the internet at the time.Sold to a local free newspaper provider. The pre-internet equivalent of Facebook buying Instagram (Nottinghamshire edition). Obviously.
