• Advise dozens of activists in animal rights-related matters, both civil and criminal, and develop novel legal theories to advance animal rights;
• Advise corporate entities on tax and corporate matters;
• Participate in high-risk, high-impact animal rights actions, including an investigation and open rescue of a Smithfield factory farm that was covered in The New York Times, The Intercept, and other publications;
• Draft, and organize successful campaigns for, city council resolutions, including those by Berkeley and San Francisco supporting activists facing prosecution for investigations and rescues; and
• Draft press pitches and work with journalists about animal rights stories.

East Palo Alto

• Represented dozens of companies and some investors in formations, all stages of equity financings, and mergers and acquisitions;
• Assisted in a smaller number of debt financings, technology transactions, and public company matters;
• Advised officers and boards regarding corporate structure, equity compensation, and other general corporate matters; and
• Assisted pro bono clients, including an immigrant victim of domestic violence, a community-building organization in Tanzania, and a San Francisco fitness studio.

• More than doubled volunteer attorney participation, from 98 attorneys and 4,786 pro bono hours in 2006 to 280 attorneys and 10,614 pro bono hours in 2009;
• Built and maintained new relationships with over 25 Bay Area law firms, numerous solo practitioners, and other legal aid agencies to place pro bono cases;
• Established new clinics in bankruptcy and tax law, serving 150 clients; and
• Interviewed clients, identified legal issues in a range of areas, and drafted case memoranda.
