Thanks to our Boulder community voters, our wonderful library is being transformed into a public library district. This means that our library will finally be reliably funded and better equipped to offer crucial services to our community. Starting in January 2024, hours will be restored and programs and services will be restored and expanded. We are excited! Four years ago, group of community volunteers created Boulder Library Champions to seek sustainable funding for our library through creation of a library district and we won that election in November 2023! [This is a purely voluntary gig, field by a love of libraries and rexginition of the important role they play in our social infrastructure.}Retirement was more fun before the Trump Administration started dismantling our public protections. During the Trump years, we created Save EPA to do what we could to help people participate effectively in rulemakings. We've left the site up in case we have to do this again. The Save EPA site is at https://saveepaalums.info [Note: This is not a "job" - it's a also voluntary labor of love, fueled by fury.] My retirement passion: I was infected with the Ancient Egypt virus at the tender age of six. Now that I'm well and truly retired, I can finally indulge my passion and spend lots of time researching and writing about my favorite place. My current research interests are in the origins of the Egyptian state, starting in the Holocene (~6000 BCE) through the Old Kingdom (~2100 BCE).
