As I attended community college, I found my passion in working with children as an educator. Once I graduated with my associates of science degree, I was determined to take the next step to accomplish my dream. I started by taking numerous pre-education requisite classes which included SPED courses. I had the great opportunity to work as a Youth Case Manager for Encompass Health Services. I have gained vast knowledge of behavioral health services and the complexity of what it take to provide those services to those in need. Being able to work with children and families, and knowing the positive impact you can provide, proves there are many professions dedicated to helping families grow. I am very passionate about helping children and adolescents by providing positive support. I recently graduated with my bachelors of science degree in Integrated Studies with an emphasis in Social Sciences and Human Services. My career goal is to work as a social worker in a school setting.

As a youth case manager, we managed a caseload of 30-40 children and adolescents who were enrolled at Encompass for mental health support. This ranged from in-school support to teaching substance abuse prevention. I worked mostly with teenagers who were under juvenile probation and managed the substance abuse prevention group. I later transitioned to a high-needs case manager with a caseload of high-need at-risk children who were under DCS custody or were substance abusers. As a case manager, each week we had to meet a 65% productivity performance. This meant we had to learn time-management skills and we had to stay well organized. This position taught me a lot about myself and what I am truly passionate about. -
