I have worked in healthcare for my entire career. My background includes about 25 years working in the health insurance industry and almost 20 years of performing in-house legal work. Personal experiences have led me to have an interest in healthcare. The system has worked well for my family. We have received great care, which has been made affordable by health insurance coverage. At the same, I recognize this outcome may have been different if I hadn’t been a strong patient advocate and didn’t have the knowledge to navigate the system. All parties should be working together to ensure everyone has experiences similar to mine. CAQH’s mission aligns with this belief as it strives to streamline interactions between providers and health plans to ensure that time and resources can be better spent on delivering better and more affordable care to patients. For over 20 years, CAQH has helped nearly 1,000 health plans and 1.5 million providers connect, exchange information, and operate more efficiently. CAQH technology-enabled solutions and its Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE) bring the healthcare industry together to make sharing business information more automated, predictable, and consistent.In addition to legal expertise, my background includes public policy at America’s Health Insurance Plans, which provided me with a foundation in legal analyses and advocacy, and non-profit trade association work, enabling me to improve client services skills. As Senior Counsel & Compliance Official, I serve as the company’s chief legal officer, handling all day-to-day legal corporate matters. For example:• I handle all corporate governance matters, including providing legal advice to the executive team and Board of Directors• I negotiate/manage a large caseload of contracts, including complex, multi-million-dollar contracts with third party vendors which host and maintain CAQH IT solutions • I oversee, manage, and enforce the company’s compliance program. In addition, qualities that I believe I have include providing practical advice, being a problem solver, having high integrity, and working well with others. I also am relied upon to manage and participate in high profile projects.
