moving from freelance to direct employment with Tilbury Douglas engineering, under a new job title.Electrical lead on cat B hospital renovation, building a new Children’s and young person cancer wing at Guy's hospital London.

Initially taken on with Tilbury Douglas as a senior electrical supervisor come manager to lead the electrical install at Guy's Hospital Children and young adults cancer wing refurbishment. I progressed to a more formal Electrical site manager before too long and offered a permanent role at Tilbury Douglas based on my work delivered and feedback from managers & clients.I am proud of my part on the Guy's Cancer project as this is a prime example of the high social impact projects I have come to value more highly when considering new roles and projects.

During this period I found myself being asked to take on the role and responsibilities of a supervisor sometimes formally but mostly formally once I gained my SSSTS, and also in reflection of my skills of people management and project management built from my pre-construction career.I worked still through agencies or direct with contractors working on projects across London and the Southeast, further developing my skills & experience as an Electrician.Notable contractors were T Clarke,Emico, BAM Nutall, Cross Rail, Wingate.Notable projects: London Underground stations, Hospitals, commercial fit out, new build homes & apartments.

During this period I worked on my NVQ level 3 and the skills I demonstrated lead me to being given roles of an Electrician even before gaining my gold card. I gained my gold card in later 2015, while working at various projects through agencies, and as with my electrical mate period below, I looked to take on positions that would strengthen my skills as well as give me the opportunities to develop new ones.

During this period I worked through agencies building my experience as an adult trainee electrician. I chose to seek out roles that exposed me to new skills I needed to work on as I had not been able to secure a form apprenticeship being an adult learner. I worked on projects that stretched me and I tried to go into new projects with a transparent approach, setting out where I have some experience and where I want to work on, which on the whole worked well and I got the experience I needed to move on and develop.

Before committing to a career in construction as an electrician, I worked in roles focused on customer service, sales and inventory management.I took my first managerial role at 19 while at Dixons, and progressed to roles with other retailers developing a skillset of organisation, customer engagement, people management and a strong respect for processes & quality assurance.The most pivital role was with Apple retail in Stratford during the London Olympics 2012. At Apple I learned what I now consider to be core values and skills which I feel makes me a stronger manager and team player i the rolesI fulfil now and into the future. This is why it is the only pre construction role I have left on my profile, but am more than willing to discuss other roles in this period.
