Mr. Pinney is the firm's Managing Partner, a member of the Executive Committee and a member of the firm's Corporate, Securities, Litigation and Commercial Finance Practi ce Groups. Mr. Pinney serves as a counselor to high net-worth families, including some of Cleveland’s leading philanthropic families. His practice includes estate and wealth planning and related tax matters for high net worth individuals and families. He structures complex and sophisticated trust vehicles to provide asset protection and succession planning.Mr. Pinney has a wide range of experience in the structuring, financing, development and construction of commercial and retail acquisitions and sales and leases of office buildings, apartments and residential projects. He also assists clients in complex tax and business matters including corporate acquisitions and divestitures.Mr. Pinney’s litigation experience includes serving as trial counsel on a wide variety of complex civil litigation matters. He represents public and private companies in securities litigation and other complex commercial disputes. He has defended a New York-based public company in a several hundred million dollar securities class action. Mr. Pinney also served as one of the lead trial attorneys in the prosecution of a related high-profile malpractice claim against the company’s former “big four” auditor that resulted in a multi-million dollar out-of-court settlement, which was featured in the Wall Street Journal and other major publications. In addition to being admitted to practice before all of Ohio's courts, Mr. Pinney is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
