Jonathan Kang is a professional trumpet musician in LA and OC County. He has performed with various famous artist. To name a few; Mischa Maisky, Brian McKnight, Baby Face, Korean Pop Star Kim Tae Woo, So-Hyang, and David Benoit. Freelancing in Southern California has given Mr. Kang many opportunities and experiences to grow as a musician and as a person. Kang has even taken his performance internationally. He was the soloist for Ulsan University and performed as principal trumpet twice, at the Chang Hana’s Absolute Classic Summer Music Festival.In 2010, Mr. Kang moved to Rochester, NY to study trumpet at the Eastman School of Music under the teachings of Professor James Thompson and Professor Doug Prosser. Kang has had the honor to perform under many conductors such as Maestro Varon, Maestro Scatterday, Maestro Hunsberger, Maestro Brad Lubman, Maestro Benton Hess, Rich Thompson, and Maestro Weinert. Some of the group he was performed with are; the Eastman Wind Orchestra, Eastman Wind Ensemble, Eastman Opera, Eastman Symphony Orchestra, and Eastman Philharmonia. He has also freelanced in the Rochester area. Performing in various churches, high schools, and senior centers. Kang graduated from Eastman in 2014 with a Bachelor's in Music.After Eastman, Mr. Kang was accepted at the Thornton School of Music to pursue his Master's in Music, where he was able to study under the great Boyde Hood. At USC, he has performed under the baton of Carl St. Clair. And in 2015, he was fortunate enough to have to opportunity to go perform the Pictures at the Exhibition in Santa Barbara with the Thornton Orchestra. Kang has done numerous performances at multiple venues in the United States and South Korea. to name a few; Disney Concert Hall, Eastman Theatre, Kilbourn Hall, Hatch Recital Hall, Segerstrom Concert Hall, Zipper Hall, Cerritos Performing Art Center, Kennedy Hall, George Mason University Concert Hall, Bundang Central Park Outdoor Stage and Seongnam Art Center. Kang is currently freelancing and teaching in both LA and OC County of Southern California.
