• Performing and leading the performance of the analysis and design of complex structural systems (both buildings and bridges) in steel, concrete, timber, masonry, aluminum and stainless steel.• Project Management: Concurrent management of the structural scope of multiple projects (one of these was a mega-project; i.e.—a high-cost, high-priority project consisting of multiple buildings—The Miami Intermodal Center).• Client Management: Management of the firm’s top client in terms of total consulting fees—A. Zahner Company.• Setting up and conducting client meetings to discuss progress, design/fabrication issues, and construction/field issues of projects that were underway.• Meeting with the client to establish scope for new project pursuits and performing engineering fee estimates based on the proposed scopes.• Writing of project scopes, engineering fee proposals, design criteria, project specifications and scheduling work plans; Writing of NCRs (non-compliance reports) and formal RFI responses. • Coordination and production of plan sets for the structural scope of design projects using both 3D modeling and 2D drafting.• Assisting/mentoring younger staff members with development of engineering design skills.

• Performing and leading the performance of the analysis and design of complex structural systems for long-span, specialty/signature bridges and conventional highway bridges in steel and/or concrete (e.g.—post-tensioned, prestressed, precast, etc.).• Led the analysis and design of the Main Street Bridge Replacement in Columbus, Ohio from the inception to the completion of the project. • Development, fabrication and construction of a system for the experimental testing of full-scale moment connections (sponsored in part by FEMA in response to the Northridge Earthquake).• Setup and configuration of hydraulic actuating systems (MTS and Enerpac) for structural testing.• Design and detailing of 20-ton overhead crane system for high-bay structural testing laboratory.• Pricing, Purchase, setup and configuration of Hewlett Packard data acquisition (DAQ) systems.• Conducted experimental tests on full-scale, steel extended end-plate moment connections to determine the parameters for optimum beam-side and column-side behavior.• Developed design suggestions for the design of steel extended end-plate moment connections (beam and column detailing guidelines) based on the results of the above experimental program. • Development and fabrication of electronic instrumentation for experimental structural measurements.• Assisting new graduate students with experimental laboratory methods (e.g.—instructing students in the calibration of LVDTs, installation of strain gages, use of data acquisition systems, etc.).
