Responsible for typesetting and page layout of client forms and documents. Daily tasks include creating consistent designs, using paragraph and character styles within Adobe InDesign, working with vector and raster images, as well as preparing PDF X-1a files for print.I spearheaded the effort to migrate the department from QuarkXPress to InDesign in 2016. This included setting up dozens of page templates and hosting "lunch and learn" meetings to demonstrate the differences between these programs to the entire team.I have continued to create and improve templates that leverage InData (a programmable data merge software). These templates continue to save time across the entire department and have greatly improved our overall processes.

Created and maintained multiple music genre playlists for our listeners through a proprietary, browser-based management tool. Developed and implemented several process improvements that increased efficiency across the team. Also compiled several weekly user reports that included some simple data analysis observations.

During my first five years with this company, I was a member of the typesetting/prepress department. I took the lead to learn processes outside of my initial job description. I assisted in multiple process improvements and helped document each to be used in the training of current and new employees. I also created several database tools in Excel that continue to be utilized to this day.In 2008, I was chosen to become the Graphic Designer in the Marketing department, where my primary goals were to ensure brand consistency and enhance sales efforts. Responsible for the complete design and layout of an 80+ page layout including cover design, table of contents, article flow, and photo/ad placement. Once the magazine was complete, high resolution PDF files were then created and uploaded (via FTP) to an out-of-state printer who also took care of distribution.

Vienna, Va

This was a traditional "service bureau," where, in a customer-facing position, I recreated and/or prepped desktop publishing files for color separation. Film negatives were then developed in-house that could be taken to a print shop for offset printing. Here I gained valuable experience learning all aspects of offset printing: trapping, bleeds, pagination, color separation, spot colors, die lines, etc.

Quantico, Va

A member of a large, full service graphics shop that supported the needs of the entire Marine Corps Base Quantico, including the Officer Candidate School. Projects here were incredibly diverse and included all manner of print shop requests such as illustrations, training slides, vinyl signs, caricatures and portraits.
