Studies of the genetics of antibiotic resistance in staphylococci, in the laboratory of Prof. Diarmaid Hughes. The goal was to identify mutations in S. aureus that cause resistance to Fusidic acid and aminoglycosides, and the clinically important small colony phenotype.
