Water Sewer Streets Chief Support Engineer
Lead and oversee the Engineering section of the 8th largest water utility in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The section consists of a staff of 26 - two engineering managers, a construction management supervisor, four engineers, nine construction managers, 6 engineering support associates, two small-engine shop equipment mechanics and two engineer interns. The group is responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of the Arlington County Utilities and Paving/Concrete Maintenance Capital Improvement Program (CIP) with a budget of $50 million per year. I oversee the short- and long-term strategic planning and implementation of all engineering and design work performed by Water Sewer Streets (WSS), either in-house or consultant, relating to the County's water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems, as well as the paving and sidewalk maintenance programs. Sewers/Streets Design Team Supervisor
Led a four (4) member team consisting of design engineers and engineering support associates. The team is primarily responsible for providing engineering support to the Sewer and Streets maintenance and operations sections within the Water, Sewer and Streets (WSS) Bureau. The team coordinates and collaborates with construction crews and contractors to implement improvements that resolve concrete maintenance issues, stormwater drainage & flooding complaints, and sanitary sewer backups. The team is also responsible for the design review of the wet utilities, streets, and sidewalk elements of all County led capital projects and private developer led commercial and residential development.Served as project manager for many of the projects in the Infiltration & Inflow and the Sanitary Sewer System Improvements programs, which seek to improve the capacity and reliability of the County’s sanitary sewer system. Additionally, served as the program manager for the Curb & Gutter Missing Links program.Responsible for maintaining, amending, updating, and implementing the Sanitary Sewer Collection System Plan, the guiding document that underpins all the sanitary sewer system and wastewater services work performed in the County and is an element of the County’s comprehensive plan.
