About Jon M Armstrong
Jon M Armstrong is an award-winning interdisciplinary artist & designer working across light, space & magic. He has spent the last 20 years creating, designing and realising immersive and experiential environments, and is the winner in two categories at the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2023. Jon's work spans large-scale commercial projects, built environment, site-specific installation, digital work and theatre. He has worked with some of the most exciting creative companies in the UK, with clients including Studio Hardie, Hermes, Lost & Found, Gideon Reeling, Goat & Monkey and Coney. He was also resident magician at the communications company AGL International.As an independent lighting designer, he has worked all over the world, and has expertise in theatre, architecture, heritage, exhibition and digital environments. He is passionate about combining his creative and technical expertise in order to place the audience at the centre of every experience that he creates. Jon is also an authority on the combination of magic, light and experience design, and has designed magic effects for traditional, immersive and site-specific work, ranging from large-scale illusions to psychological and suggestion-based effects. He has contributed a chapter on magic and immersion to an Ashgate reader, spoken and performed at the Natural History Museum, the Barbican Centre and the Chicago Magic Lounge, and was recently invited to lecture at the world famous Magic Circle on magic & light.
