Jonathan has been a qualified solicitor for over 15 years and during that time has undertaken personal injury, human rights and employment work for individual clients and businesses across the UK, Europe and the USA.He is now the Legal Practice Course Leader and Lecturer at Cardiff University specialising in Public Law, Employment Law and Litigation. He is also a Senior Personal Tutor leading a team of colleagues responsible for the pastoral and educational well-being of students in the School of Law and Politics. He is involved with the university's pro bono Innocence Project work. He is currently involved in a campaign highlighting how the current fatal accident legislation is outdated and discriminatory in its approach to many modern day family situations.Jonathan has been involved for many years in campaigning on behalf of victims of miscarriages of justice and continues to do so. He spearheaded a national campaign for the acquittal and release of a woman suffering from mental illness who was wrongly convicted of murder.He works for Amnesty International in case research, planning and campaigning and is committed to helping those people who struggle to gain proper access to the law and justice for whatever reason. He has been a vehement campaigner against the Death Penalty around the globe for 20 years and continues to encourage people from all walks of life to try and play a part, however small, in arguing against state killings wherever they are occurring.Jonathan works closely with students at Cardiff University undertaking investigatory work into alleged miscarriages of justice as part of the university's renowned pro bono schemes. Cardiff University Innocence Project is the only project of its kind in the UK to have successfully appealed a wrongful conviction to the Court Of Appeal. In January 2019 a second conviction was overturned and other appeals are pending.
