About Jonny Mcconnell
With over fifteen years of work experience in the design and media industry, I am passionate about helping students and startups achieve their goals and create impact. I have a certificate in business management from Western Washington University, and a certificate in emerging design and technology from MIT Media Lab. And am currently an education mentor at Designlab, where I provide industry advice and counseling for students seeking jobs in the design field.In addition to my mentoring role, I am also a founding member and product design lead in a network of fractional builders, helping startups when and where they need it. I have extensive experience in using Figma, design systems, and web design to create user-friendly and engaging products.Founder and host of a phonebook website and podcast that chronicles the creative community in the Pacific Northwest and the stories of how it was formed. My early focus was to redesign the platform and create a design system for how data was being presented, as well as data visualizations to improve customer understanding. Later focus was to research, wireframe and design an entire episode analysis tool enabling users to look at the data acutely along with the original video playback.
