My name is Jon Mikel Zabala-Iturriagagoitia and I am an active, sportive, multidisciplinary, adaptive, creative, social and committed Basque researcher. My research interests are related to the fields of science, technology and innovation policy, innovation management, and the use of indicators to inform policy decisions and evaluations.I am Associate Professor at the Deusto Business School, University of Deusto in San Sebastian (Spain). I am also affiliated to CIRCLE at Lund University (Sweden), and to the USN School of Business in Kongsberg, at the University of South-Eastern Norway (Norway). I graduated as an Industrial Engineer at the University of Mondragon (2002). I was granted a fellowship from the Basque Government to conduct my Ph.D. studies at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), where I received my PhD in Engineering and Innovation Projects (2008). During the PhD, I was visiting researcher at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT). After the PhD I moved to CIRCLE at Lund University (Sweden) as a post-doc, where I also hold an assistant professorship. In 2013 I got a Marie Curie Fellowship that allowed me to join the Deusto Business School. In 2018 I was visiting researcher at HEC Montreal (Canada).My research combines both qualitative and quantitative methods. I have been involved in several regional, national and international projects in the research areas previously mentioned, and have worked closely with different universities, research centers and other social actors.As a result, I have published more than 60 scientific articles in the most prestigious journals related to innovation, as well as 15 book chapters, having also edited two books. My research has received numerous recognitions and awards, having had a strong policy impact. I have collaborated with supranational organizations such as the European Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the World Bank. Due to the impact of my research, I have been appointed as member of the Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (CACTI) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Spanish Government, the COTEC Foundation for innovation in Spain, the Basque Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters (Jakiunde), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Task Force on Innovation Policy Principles.
