I spent close to two years as the digital editor at the BBJ. As digital editor, it was my duty to oversee everything online about the business newspaper, including social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Every day, I worked on the morning newsletter, including compiling our daily "8 things" posts and editing stories from the night before. I also worked to coordinate content for our Real Estate Inc. and Afternoon Edition newsletters and wrote breaking news stories for the web as they occured. I was also the host of the weekly podcast and worked with the reporters on staff to find new and interesting ways to present stories on the website.

I spent time time as the associate editor at the Baltimore Business Journal before receiving a promotion to digital editor. My main duties included planning and editing the special publications we produce, including 40 Under 40, Fast 50, Enterprising Women and Best Places to Work. I also wrote stories on a weekly basis for both the news and sports sections. As Editor, I increased the online presence of The Towerlight. I also worked with the other staff members at the paper to create an assistant social media manager position, and started a new Towerlight newsletter that delivered the top stories to reader's inboxes. As a reporter, I broke a number of news stories, including the suspension of the cheerleading team for hazing, the creation of a White Student Union and allegations involving Towson's debate team.Prior to becoming Editor, I served as the paper's news editor. As news editor, I covered the 2012 presidential election for The Towerlight and the creation, management and dissolution of the White Student Union.

As an intern in the Office of Communications at the Library of Congress, I worked on projects related to both public relations and journalism. I first got into public relations at the Library by writing numerous press releases for the other offices at the Library, while I gained more experience in journalism by writing numerous stories for the Library's staff newspaper, The Gazette, along with the Library of Congress Magazine. In addition to writing, the Library also had me work on two large projects over the course of the summer. First, I was tasked with revamping the Library's accounts on Twitter and Facebook. After reading several books and researching the Library's accounts I wrote an official proposal detailing 15 things the Library should do to improve their social media presence. The second task was beginning to digitize all of the Library's press clippings from 1970 - 2004. This was the first digitization project the Communications Office has taken on, and I detailed each step I went through to begin the process so that the next intern can continue the project.
