GoalsI want to change the world, and have focused my career to that end. Public radio, international development, professional theatre, education, and even bookselling have served that end, and now I seek other challenges to achieve my goal.Management Toolbox• Ability to learn, adapt, and influence: I like to learn, not only about ideas and sectors I might not be familiar with, but also learn about the people I work with. I also challenge my own assumptions, and am willing to adapt my thinking. Both of these traits enable me to influence others.• Financial analysis: I can look at an operation, but to really understand it, I need to see the budget, and year-to-date figures against the budget. How the money is spent, and at what rate. Then I can get a true picture of what is going on and how to improve it.• Emergency management: I have certifications in the Incident Command Structure, and have been a Amateur (Ham) Radio Operator for many years. Both are useful in Emergencies, Disasters, and large events.• Cultural dexterity: To manage and lead projects overseas requires cultural understanding, and an ability to also teach American culture. • International experience: I have lived and worked abroad, mainly in the lesser developed parts of the world. Getting things done in these places gives me great insight to the challenges, and rewards of doing so.• Change management: I accept change; the trick is to bring everyone along with me. I have repeatedly done this to great success.I did this interview with Rainmakers on PBS Stations across the country. http://rainmakers.tv/jon-newstrom-international-media-expert/ The video was shot in one take, demonstrating my camera poise.
