As a technician with AVT I deliver, set up, operate, and tear down audio/visual presentation equipment for meetings and other live events. With the other technicians I am also responsible to see that all our equipment is maintained and stocked.Additionally my office duties including managing the companies social media accounts and helping keep up the inventory records.

A side project that enables me to practice my editing and design skills occasionally.

Unload semi-trailer of store merchandise and arrange merchandise on store shelves ensuring all items are clearly labeled with prices and are in the proper places.

Resposibilities: Operate teleprompter and studio cameras during evening broadcasts including “The One Seven” talk show at 5 PM, the 6 PM News and the 10 PM News. Camera skills developed on this job have included quick repositioning from news desk to weather desk or chroma wall, subtle adjustments while on air, and smooth camera moves including zooms, dollies, trucks, and peds.

Signed on as a one year volunteer to produce promotional videos for use by WGM missionaries from the East Africa region. During this time I wrote shot and edited five videos on my own, helped a Kenyan coworker with one other, and was the second camera operator on yet one other video. Based in Kenya, I traveled to Uganda, Burundi, Sudan and other parts of Kenya to write and shoot for various mission projects. I would often return to my base in Kenya to complete the editing and author DVDs. At the end of my year in Kenya I still had some projects to finish editing so I returned to the United States and put the finishing touches on them from my home.One video produced in this time received a 2010 Telly Award for non-profit promotional video.

Originally hired as a cashier, later trained as service desk clerk and eventually Service Coordinator (SC). As an SC I filled the role of middle management, assigning cashiers to registers throughout the day, providing cashiers with materials necessary to continue uninterupted service, arranged cashier breaks, handled customer comments and complaints, and made sure service area remained clean. I also was responsible in the evenings to remove the cash gathered throughout the day and put out "clean" drawers for the following day.

My own freelance company designed to allow me to continue developing new skills at times when I am looking for steady video work. I began producing promotional videos for churches and other ministries. The materials I produced were shown in churches and homes to build interest and support for the subject matter. I also edited a training DVD on child abuse prevention for use by the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church in training volunteers for children's ministries and summer camps. In addition to church and ministry productions I was able to share my talents with friends by creating three, multi-camera wedding videos.Projects created during this time provided me the opportunity to teach myself Avid Xpress Pro, Adobe After Effects, and DVD authoring.

In this six week internship I was assigned the responsibility to produce a promotional video for Mary Hermiz, missionary in Kenya. In the first two weeks I communicated with Mary via email while I worked at WGM's head office in Indiana to write the script. For the shooting I was sent to Kenya for about ten days carrying all the video equipment that would be necessary. Upon returning to headquarters I had two weeks to edit the final product. These two weeks were in addition to the requirements of my internship as the office had informed me they had too many other projects going at the time to do the editing on my project and had asked me to stay on. At the end of my two week extension the project was not quite complete, but was finished enough that my supervisor was able to wrap it up a short time later.

Internship in news and sports gave me exposure to a news room environment including sitting in on production meetings to prepare for the noon broadcast, operating teleprompter during the noon broadcast, shooting local sports, writing and video editing for sports stories, and making calls to local courts and emergency services to gather stories.

I had the opportunity to join a small crew on WGM's first Media Internship. Our team shot three promotional videos simultaneously at Tenwek Hospital in rural Kenya. Two of the videos were promotions for missionaries to use in churches when returning to the US and the other was a promotion for the internship program itself and included a number of "behind the scenes" shots taken while filming the other two projects.
