I was responsible for the collation of University spend data into spreadsheets organised by supplier, this was for a whole years spend for 23 Universities. This required accurate attention to detail so the total spend amount uploaded to the central database matched the universities reported spend. The data was stored on several spreadsheets and it was my duty to locate and collate the data into single spreadsheet suitable for upload. I was also responsible for updating contract information which would be published to the consortium website, details had to be accurate as this was to be seen by current and potential suppliers.

My responsibilities were the processing of Environmental Stewardship Claims. This process requires accurate attention to detail and the investigation of any errors that may be present within the agreement. The work is completed on a large database and I was required to keep several Spreadsheets updated with my work progress. Using a web map I investigated maps of the farms searching for features that are ineligible for the environmental stewardship agreement; this was essential work as an infringement of the agreement may have occurred resulting in a recovery of claim money. I was also responsible for checking the money paid on ineligible features and calculating the amount that needed to be recovered. I was entrusted with the task of going through Compliance Monitoring Inspection reports. These required looking over the details of a farm inspector’s notes and comparing these to the details of the agreement to check for differences. This task required high attention to detail as I was reviewing the whole agreement, land option by land option. I was also placed on the customer service helpline. I relished this task as I found the task challenging but rewarding when I helped with the problems in which customers contacted the helpline for. I dealt with a range of customers, as Natural England were responsible for payments, some customers were angry when not paid on time. I demonstrated abilities to help with vexed customers and resolve the issues they had.

Flood and Coastal Risk Management Officer, Partnership and Strategic Overview. The role of strategic overview is to help deliver, with others, the national flood and coastal erosion risk management strategy. I was responsible for the collection, collation and presentation of data for requests under the freedom of information act. This entailed using both MapInfo and ArcGIS to create different maps displaying flood risk, using various data from flow points to LiDAR grids. I have used data created from hydraulic river models and coastal models to create maps of flood depths; used modelling software to improve the accuracy of flood zones in an area and also used data conversion tools to convert GIS files into formats that suit the particular program that required usage, such as converting MapInfo file to ArcGIS files. I also created new flood zone outlines through running modelling software. The flood map on the Environment Agency’s website was challenged by a resident, agreeing that they were correct to challenge the map, I acknowledged the inaccuracy providing them with an interim update; I reran the software to present a more accurate assessment of flood risk; I then created a representative map of flood risk in a prompt turnaround time.
