Systems Manager: November 2007 - October 2009Senior Systems Administrator: March 2006 - Nov 2007Joining as a systems administrator, I was internally promoted to take over the systems infrastructure team when the role was vacated. Our team had global ownership of all server and desktop infrastructure, backup and storage, data centers and virtualization in over hundred sites in twenty countries supporting 6500 professional engineers.With the support of the CIO, we set about implementing a change agenda to rationalize the corporate infrastructure, improve agility and better manage costs. These projects included data center roll-out consolidation, application packaging and desktop SOE, on premise-cloud architecture, negotiating managed service agreements and roll out of work from home capability.

Working with a small startup which was spun-off from a larger company, we built a suite of browser based collaboration tools that would be described today as Google Apps. Before commercialization, the parent company folded and the project was disbanded.

This was one of the fastest growing service providers during the heady expansion of the market in early 2000‘s as ADSL became common place. DART was the first to launch many product categories such as unlimited downloads. As GM, I tried to bring some order to the chaos and backstop the CEO.

As Technocash was founded, Flux hosted the prototype used to raise seed funding. Convinced by the idea of e-commerce without credit cards, Flux was shut down and I joined Technocash as web application architect and developer. I implemented the bulk of the platform, including integration of the payment service with some of the biggest Australian retailers and distribution through 5000 physical outlets.Unfortunately Technocash was wound up in 2013 after getting caught up in some legal issues which a simple Google search will reveal.

Along with two high school friends, we founded Flux - an Internet Service Provider. Sporting a 256k multiplexed ISDN connection and a dozen “servers” built from scrapped together desktop components running Slackware, we offered PPP/SLIP dialup Internet, web design and hosting.The highlight of this adventure was watching a Telstra crew spend four days digging an underground lead-in pipe and run a 100-pair PSTN cable with MDF punch board into the spare room of the family home, much to my parents amusement.
