Church Collaboration Lead - Advocacy
CurrentUniting is the social service, chaplaincy and advocacy agency of the Uniting Church in Australia Synod of NSW and the ACT. As a Church Engagement Leader I help strengthen collaboration between Uniting and the broader church. By building relationships with lay leaders, ministers, congregations and presbyteries, I aim to bring the Uniting Church's mission to life, taking real steps to make the world a better place. In this role I have a strong focus on social justice issues, seeking opportunities for Uniting's Advocacy team to engage with church congregations and members, amplifying their ability to stand up for the most marginalised in our society. Through this, I aim to deliver on Uniting's 10-year strategy to disrupt entrenched disadvantage.I use a variety of tools for this work, including community organising. I work closely with the Sydney Alliance, a network of civil society organisation including faith groups, cultural groups, unions and community service providers to hold our elected leaders accountable and secure real change to improve the lives of communities all across Sydney. This is a Lay Specified Ministry of Pastor role within the Uniting Church, and I am commissioned as a pastor by the Sydney Presbytery, held accountable to the church's code of conduct and ethical ministry standards.
