I spent fourth months assisting teaching the second year "Modeling the Systems World" course at SUTD in collaboration with the SUTD-MIT exchange program. The course is offered by the Engineering Systems & Design school and is taken by all second year students. The course focuses on differential equations and convex optimization.

I was involved in simulation of nucleation in flashing flows using ANYSY CFX. The idea is to introduce and compare heterogeneous nucleation at the wall instead of using volume-averaging techniques. The goal is to obtain better spatial information about the formation and evolution of two-phase structures in flashing flow. I worked on implementing and testing various nucleation closure models against lab-scale and industrial data.

I was working on research projects with the School of Chemical Engineering at Wits University. My research was into bio-remediation of acid mine drainage using grasses and subsequent analysis of the sludge for fermentation. I investigated if, and to what degree, hydrolysis of polysaccharides occurs within the organic matter. I was also involved in research into pumping strategies to mitigate AMD.
