    I currently work for YBS as a Senior Technical Analyst on the VMware & Windows Server Team. I am responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of all Production, Test, and Development environments. As well as the ‘Business as Usual’ elements of my job, I also act as Technical Lead on a variety of IT Service Delivery (ITSD) projects. As such, I get fully involved with the specification, design and implementation of new systems and services – liaising with third party companies contracted by YBS where necessary.     I worked for Civica as a Senior Technical Analyst. My team was responsible for the provision, support, and maintenance of Customer Implementations hosted on our vSphere 4 Virtual Infrastructure. We hosted around 35 customers on over 400 Virtual Machines. Our Primary Site consisted of 6 ESX 4.0 Servers running on HP ProLiant BL680 Blades. These ran a single DRS/HA Cluster. We had in excess of 140 Virtual Networks and 80 Datastores hosted on our Compellent SAN (Fibre Channel). Our slightly smaller Secondary Site hosted the Disaster Recovery Infrastructure, utilising a combination of SRM and manual DR procedures. I personally deployed a number of our Customer Implementations using Design Documents produced by my own team and the Senior Architects collaboratively. I provisioned the Datastores, Virtual Networks, and Virtual Machines. Many of these Solutions were based on Citrix XenApp 5/6.5 on Windows 2008 Servers. I built and configured the full Windows Domain provision, as well as the XenApp Servers, Web Interfaces, Citrix Secure Gateways, SQL Servers, etc. I published bespoke and specialist Applications using VBScripting to set up the user and Application environment. Along with the provisioning tasks, I was also responsible for the on-going monitoring, securing, and patching of the Virtual Infrastructure and Virtual Machines, as well as building Virtual Machine Templates and producing accurate documentation.

The solution incorporated 2 ESX Servers running a number Virtual Machines each. Microsoft Exchange and SQL Servers were clustered across the 2 ESX Hosts. Shared storage was provided by Fibre Channel SAN, making clustering possible. The Test Environment was often used for failover testing of the clusters in the event of a disaster.
