• Discovered an anerobic proline betaine:tetrahydrofolate methyltransferase pathway in an acetogenic gut bacterium, reconstituted it in vitro from recombinant protein and characterized activity (first-author publication).
• Predicted and tested amino acids critical for activity in the active site of an anaerobic glycine betaine:corrinoid methyltransferase (currently close to publication).
• Helped colleagues troubleshoot their research projects.
• Saved significant funding by troubleshooting/repairing aging laboratory equipment.
• Performed genetic knockouts in Methanosarcina acetivorans

• Chosen as head TA after two semesters: led and mentored peers to teach laboratory exercises and develop/lead recitations, performed teaching observations and provided feedback to peers.
• Provided significant input for redesign of lab curriculum
• Won the 2016 CLSE Outstanding TA Award (chosen by students and supervisors).
• Developed and taught recitation of course material, led students through lab procedures, met and communicated with students to solidify their understanding and prepare for exams.
