• Wrote GUI applications in Python to allow analysts to request summarized and/or specific date/time cloud data for anywhere on the globe as imagery, CSV or NetCDF files from a 5 TB text-based data set.• Formalized the use of Python in the Squadron by integrating industry best practices for Python such as coding standards (PEP 8 and 257, Sphinx), version control (SVN) and code checking (pylint) into section workflows. Summarized findings by building and authoring a SharePoint wiki and advocating its use.• Developed programs using ESRI’s ArcMap and Python to covert CSV files to animated KML files. Files are distributed via web site to worldwide customers.• Re-factored Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) decoder (https://github.com/lowcloudnine/GPCP-to-CSV/tree/version-2) to generate CSV files for input into an Oracle DB for use by analysts. Used an abstract class/inheritance to ease future format changes.• Wrote and automated a command line utility, in Python for Solaris 11, saving 20+ man hours a month.

• Led 8 personnel providing 24 hour weather support and resource protection of $3 billion in assets and over 3,000 personnel; renewed emphasis on quality, reduced weather product errors by 40%.• Re-engineered processes for creating mission oriented briefings by centralizing initial production and streamlining forecast data location, reduced team workload by a third.

• Led a team to complete and deploy Java applications to display global weather observations, forecasts and space model data; first-ever geo-referenced data display applications for Air Force Weather Enterprise.• Managed, at CMMI 3 level, incremental development and maintenance of iGrADS; a web application to retrieve and graphically display weather model. iGrADS used a mix of ksh, Java, GrADS and HTML.

• Drove weather analyst process improvement, from micro to macro adjustments of forecasting coverage, correcting more model points; critical assets able to collect 35% more targets.• Ensured integration of new $150M polar-orbiting satellite data into forecast processes; increased imagery availability to analysts by 30%.
