Research assistant to Dr. Evan Medeiros, Penner Family Chair in Asian Studies and NSC Senior Director for Asia under President Obama.I carried out research, translation and data analysis related to U.S.-China relations and Chinese foreign policy using open-source Mandarin databases. My research was featured in a paper published on China Leadership Monitor.

ASEAN Directorate, Political-Security Community BranchI supported and staffed the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Feb. 2018, including making transport and accommodation arrangements for Singapore’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN. I also provided research input on security and politics-related issues for senior management’s consideration.

I spearheaded an Executive Committee of five members to organize events to promote bonding among ~150 Singaporean undergraduate, postgraduate and short-term exchange students in universities in Beijing. I also facilitated interaction between Singaporean students, various university leadership bodies, private firms, and government organizations.

Singapore Embassy in Washington D.C.I provided administrative support for the Prime Minister’s State Visit to Washington, D.C., including management of RSVP database for Singaporeans attending the Rose Garden reception. I also completed a research paper on the current state of American presidential politics.

Northeast Asia DirectorateI produced research concerning China’s stock market crash, the South China Sea dispute, Taiwan’s presidential elections, and Hong Kong’s legislative elections. I also monitored media developments in English and Mandarin concerning Singapore and the Northeast Asia region, and translated reports from Mandarin to English.

I led a team of nine to complete research on the issues of sustainable urbanisation and international disaster risk reduction.

Served as a Vehicle Commander for the Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicle, in charge of the manoeuvres and firepower of three vehicles in a platoon. Attained REDCON 1 for individual components for ATEC Stage 1, and contributed to an overall REDCON 2A for the battalion in ATEC Stage 2. Participated in National Day Parade 2013 as part of the Dynamic Defence.
