About Jon Shepherd

As the CEO and Co-Founder of Playbk Sports, I’m focused on helping clients reach their goals through a unique mix of sports expertise, innovation, and commercial insight. My approach is all about collaboration—unlocking new opportunities, driving growth, and having some fun along the way.My journey began on the basketball courts of NSW country, leading me to play 120 NCAA games and earn a Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. I had the honour of representing Australia at the World University Games and later competed in both the Australian and New Zealand National Basketball Leagues.These experiences fuelled my passion for helping our clients like the Gold Coast SUNS, Brisbane Broncos, NFL, AusCycling, Special Olympics Australia and others understand market trends and harness technology to amplify their impact and revenue.Before Playbk Sports, I co-founded Leaders of Evolution, an ed-tech company that empowered over 10,000 students across six countries.I’ve had the privilege to lead projects for some of Australia’s top sports organisations and engage in international trade missions with industry leaders like Google and YouTube.Lifelong learning is key to my journey, and I’m proud to have earned a Certificate of Specialization in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Harvard Business School Online, along with postgraduate qualifications in Elite Athlete Mentoring from the Australian College of Applied Psychology.Inclusion and reconciliation are close to my heart, and I’ve dedicated over a decade to volunteering with Red Dust Role Models, supporting remote Indigenous communities.Now based on the Gold Coast, I enjoy everything from beach days to hiking adventures—a lifestyle that keeps me grounded and energised.
