I’m a serial entrepreneur. I aim to build organizations of great purpose and impact. I have 20 years leadership experience in finance and tech, consumer and B2B, from startups to public cos. At Betterment, the last company I founded, I led as CEO for 13 years, grew the valuation to more than $1.5B, the team to more than 400 people, and today we have $50B of assets and 1M happy customers. I'm now building something new.My "polestar" is efficiency: making more from less, because efficiency makes us humans all better off. Simplicity, transparency, and reliability are guideposts pointing to efficiency. We often make most efficient progress by running fast (even if initially in the wrong direction) and correcting as we go. I'm motivated to help family, friends, and customers make the most of life and to build beautiful, intuitive, and delightful products.I believe relationships are *everything* and that our best work is in the service of others.
