As I was growing up I had an interest in event planning. When I was young I always had an interest for seeing a small empty room transform into a room for someone special. I get joy out of seeing people smile and be happy with the outcome of an event. I’m experienced with planning events such as family parties, open houses, and interview days. I have been the face of Arrupe College for the three years that I’ve attended there. During my school years, I have worked in the Office of Admissions and Office of Student Services. This means participating in giving tours, calling students, being on panels, posting flyers, scheduling appointments, and other branding events. I’ve worked for conference services runs through Loyola University Chicago. Conference Services turns the campus dorms into a hotel. Guest services are the people that who greet when you first walk in, and check you in and out of the hotel. We do most of the interaction with the guests helping with gym access, Wi-Fi, directions, places to eat, and any problems with the room. All these jobs have a lot in common, and a few skills that they have taught me is problem solving, effective communication, and multitask. I am a Year Up student in Class 16 on the project management track. The big goal that I have set out for myself is to be a CEO. I want to own an event planning business.
