When the covid pandemic hit in March 2022, I decided to take a sabbatical and home school my children. As a result, I closed my private law practice and stayed home while my spouse continued to work.

Jonathan spent 10 years as a litigator representing clients in family law matters, civil litigation, and appellate matters; primarily acting as counsel for numerous members of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 5 in family/domestic relations matters in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In March 2020, Jonathan closed his practice to focus on homeschooling his children during the Covid pandemic. As part of his practice, Jonathan represented his client's interests in appellate matters. For example, Jonathan successfully argued on behalf of the Appellant (our client) before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania in the matter of Dumas v. Brooks, 2018 Super. Ct. 357 (Pa. Super. Ct. Dec. 31, 2018), where the Superior Court agreed with our position that the lower trial court lacked jurisdiction to enter a reconsidered decision in the instant support matter. A link to the reported decision issued December 31, 2018 is attached. Another notable published decision that Mr. Newcomb authored all briefs for was Scott v. City of Philadelphia, Zoning Bd. of Adjustment, 88 A.3d 1071 (Pa. Cmwlth. 2014) reversed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in Scott v. Zoning Board of Adjustment, 126 A.3d 938 (Pa. 2015). In 2012, Mr. Newcomb argued two cases before the Commonwealth Court, sitting en banc, in Scott v. Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission 56 A.3d 40 (Pa. Commw. Ct. 2012) and Montgomery County v. Iverson, 530 A.3d 281 (Pa. Commw. Ct. 2012).As part of his trial practice before the lower courts, Jonathan has appeared before New Jersey Superior Courts in Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Cumberland and Middlesex counties, and in Pennsylvania Courts of Common Pleas in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks and Chester counties. Jonathan has appeared in the family, criminal, and civil divisions, and in government agency administrative hearings.
