I'm working across technical and product teams to help Okta scale

In this role I lead the Core team at Okta focused on scalability, infrastructure development, and security. Some projects include:• Sharding the entire infrastructure into cells allowing horizontal scaling, gradual rollout, multi-region support• Development of our edge service for routing traffic• Helping standardize build on maven and modularize code base• Rewriting database migration system with support for automated online alters• Building the PKI/JWS based service to service authentication systemTechnologies used: Java, Maven, Guava, Apache, Flyway, Chef, Artifactory, Nginx, AWS, Docker, Cassandra

I lead a 5 person team which had a wide swath of responsibilities across the product. • Built Okta's initial public facing REST API including auth, users, groups, events and token management• Contributed API client and network stack for the Okta Mobile app• Built the user management group synchronization and provisioning platform used by all app integrations• Responsible for addressing security issues and proactive framework improvements at all levels of the stack• Database tuning, partitioning and design consultation as we worked through scaling issues• Worked on various internal tools including automated development environment setup with ChefTechnologies include: Java, Scala, Ruby, Objective-C, iOS, Chef, MySQL, Tomcat, Nginx, AWS

-- Multi-factor Authentication & Network Policy --I built Okta's multi-factor authentication product from initial conception through the delivery of it's initial set of second factors including Okta Verify (Q/R transmitted HOTP factor), Google Authenticator, and Symantec VIP. I coded the full stack of the server side up through and including the authentication flow and administrative UI. I lead a small team of contractors in the development of the mobile app portion of Okta Verify on iPhone, Android and Blackberry. On top of this MFA framework I later added various policy capabilities including group based assignment and on/off network policy enforcement.Technologies include: Java, Scala, Objective-C, iOS, Android, jQuery, MySQL, Spring, Selenium-- Reporting & Event Pipeline --I built the event pipeline, reporting system and administrative dashboard from database architecture up through UI. Reports include system log for audit and debugging, application usage vs purchased licenses, and suspicious activity. The system processes 10s of millions of events daily. I worked as a lead engineer and hands on software architect specializing in object oriented design, transactional persistence and applying enterprise integration patterns. Responsible for overall system design, data security and long term planning to meet business objectives. Led the design and implementation of a scalable, distributed fixed income trading engine currently used to trade $15MM per day completely based on open source technology.

Developed CRM, listing search, research, reporting tools and ad management web services used by many real estate companies including Century 21.Roles also included MySQL DBA, Systems Admin on Amazon EC2 / S3 architecture, lead developer.

Maintained Linux/OS X labs and computer clusters. Tutored robotics students. Lead training sessions.

Maintained physical network, email, firewall, spam filters, LDAP, and web services. Lead collaborative project building a Beowulf cluster for physics research.
