I am a British photographer with a focus on environmental portraiture and storytelling. My work intersects between the documentary, commercial and fine art world, with a keen interest in community, and how people’s lives are shaped by history and geography.I have been featured in The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian Weekend, National Geographic, Le Monde, Sunday Times, FT Weekend Magazine and more. Commercially I have worked with brands such as Microsoft, Halifax, Nokia, Jaeger, Max Factor and Neptune. I have an MA in Documentary Photography & Photojournalism (LCC London).My images have been shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing National Portrait Prize three times and in 2014 I was presented with the Vic Odden Award by the Royal Photographic Society for my first book Empire – a journey across the South Atlantic exploring life on four remote British Overseas Territories. I am also an associate lecturer at Bath Spa University.I have work in a number of public collections, including Stanford University, California, The Hyman Collection of British photography, The Martin Parr Foundation and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Texas.For print sales I am represented by The Photographers’ Gallery in London.www.jontonks.co.uk
