I provided leadership, representation and stakeholder engagement for the RIBA in the South West delivering benefits, services, value for members and chartered practices and leading a team of 5 based across the region. My role included: • Supporting RIBA members develop relevant programmes of member-facing and public-facing activity• Developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders in the built environment to increase awareness of RIBA initiatives and our membership including associated professions like RICS, ICE, RTPI, CIOB; and pan-professional organisations including Constructing Excellence South West and Design West• Influencing and engaging with local authorities to promote the role of architecture & architects in great placemaking• Building strong relationships with UWE Bristol, University of Bath, Arts University Bournemouth, University of Plymouth, Falmouth University, University of Gloucestershire • Promoting the value and use of RIBA architects and chartered practices to domestic and corporate clients including consumer shows and trade shows• Creating opportunities to promote RIBA and good design amongst the public and construction professionals through joint conferences and public events• Supporting the retention and recruitment of RIBA members and practices to create a strong membership base to represent the sector• Facilitating the RIBA Awards across the RIBA South West and RIBA Wessex regionsMy achievements included:• Strong volunteer network of Regional Chairs, Branch Chairs and Special Interest Groups to disseminate information and gather insight from the profession to feed into national planning and activity• Strong RIBA Awards programme in a region that has consistently punched way above its actual number of professional members with numbers of awards at regional and national level• Strong and consistent recognition of RIBA campaigns, policy reports and professional knowledge across the wider built environment sector

Whilst RIBA South West Regional Director, my role was expanded to include leading the RIBA Future Architects community for future and emerging architects through a team located across the UK who delivered a programme of activity, services and support for RIBA Student and RIBA Associate members.Working across the programme group team, achievements included:• In Conversation podcast series of 10 x discussions hosted by student voices and groups on issues that matter to the audience• National studio mentoring programme delivered locally for undergraduate architecture students at over 40 universities in England and Wales• Future Architects Discuss online events co-curated by student and professional hosts with panels on issues of climate, employment practices, mental wellbeing and equality & diversity • Highly engaging social media campaigns such as #ClassOf2021 and #PresidentsMedals2021This additional role included coordinating, supporting and overcoming barriers for the team and activity task groups from different locations to create and deliver activity with a strong communications & marketing function. I supported the RIBA response and engagement with campaign groups such as Future Architects Front.
