Co-Founder And Director Of User Experience, Google Ar/VrGoogle 2014 - 2018Mountain View, Ca, UsI was a co-founder for Google’s efforts focused on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). I built the UX team from the ground up, established the culture and onboarding best practices for the entire team, partnered closely with Industrial Design and Hardware Engineering, was the executive sponsor of our Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Council, and participated in all aspects of running the whole team (resource allocation, product management, strategy, roadmap, M&A, go/no-go on key hardware and software initiatives, etc.).As Director of UX for Daydream, I led a team that shipped Google Cardboard, Daydream VR platform, Tilt Brush, Google Earth VR, ARCore for Android, Poly, Blocks, VR180 video and cameras, Playground AR, and more. Under my design leadership the team won numerous awards for both software and hardware design, including the Lumiere Century, Cannes Lion (Gold and Silver), IF Design, Red Dot, UX Awards (Gold and Silver), Proto, and MWC Global.I was deeply involved in the full experience (ID, UX of HW and SW) of Daydream hardware devices (both 1st party and with partners), such as Tango phones, the Lenovo Mirage Solo, and two generations of Daydream View VR headset and controller. Co-Founder And Design Lead, Material DesignGoogle 2012 - 2014Mountain View, Ca, UsWhile leading the design for Google Search – and during the transition from desktop to mobile – I realized we needed an entirely new design language for the direct-manipulation interfaces that were quickly becoming ubiquitous. That effort became Material Design, Google's design language for all applications and the Android platform. -
