Jon Woodhead is a recognised expert in sustainability strategy, reporting and assurance, with over 25 years’ experience of sustainability and ESG management consulting. Jon’s recent clients include APP, Airbus, Tata Steel, ArcelorMittal, Thyssenkrupp, WH Smith and Spirax Sarco Engineering. He has worked at Board level with many of the above companies, advising on sustainability strategy development, reporting and integration with core business objectives. He has particular expertise in the steel sector, having worked with numerous multinational steel producers. He is a member of the Responsible Steel Assurance Panel, and Responsible Steel Technical Advisory Group.Jon began his career in the mid-1990s working with companies including British Airways and Unilever on the emergence of their environmental and social responsibility programmes. After co-founding the consultancy CSR Network in 1999, Jon spent 10 years working with a range of multinational clients and other organisations on sustainability challenges, leading in 2009 to the formation of Two Tomorrows Group. Jon was one of the four founding Directors of Two Tomorrows Group. Jon was responsible for the company's European operations, where he led much of Two Tomorrows work on corporate social and environmental strategies, benchmarking, assurance, evolution of management and governance arrangements, and communication strategies. In 2012, Two Tomorrows Group was acquired by DNV GL.For DNV GL, Jon was Regional Manager, Assessment Services, where he was responsible for P&L performance of teams of sustainability consultants. In his role he led strategic advisory and assurance services on sustainability within DNV GL. Since leaving DNV GL at end 2017, Jon co-founded the specialist sustainability consultancy, Challenge Sustainability. He continues to work on specific assurance engagements for DNV with customers including Arcelor Mittal, Tata Steel, Kobe Steel and Thyssenkrupp. Jon is currently working with a range of international clients on sustainability strategy and reporting. Jon has a pragmatic approach and believes in delivering added value through strategic insight and attention to detail. His recent work has ranged from the development of 'green steel' assurance within the steel sector, commercialisation of carbon reduction strategies, to the development of management arrangements to tackle modern slavery. He is skilled at balancing diplomacy with constructive challenge, and has a track record of achievements in sustainability consulting stretching back over 25 years.
