In the past year, we have been very busy with our program, developing our new education model. We have made the transition from ‘supply-driven’ to ‘demand-driven’ education. In other words, the student is now in control. This also means that we, as teachers, will take on a more coaching role, hence the new position as ‘teacher coach.’In this role, I am active in both period A (Business Engineering) and period B (Logistics Engineering). Additionally, as a coach, I work with a smaller group of students throughout the year, having weekly conversations about their personal and professional development, helping them shape their professional identity.

Since August 2020, I have been working at my former study, Industrial Engineering and Management. One of my missions is to motivate, inspire, and support (young) people in their search for what they want to achieve in life—something I can fully express in the dynamic role of a teacher. I have a passion for students and see the subjects I teach as the means to achieve my ultimate goal: to truly help others.In addition to the subjects ‘Marketing & Sales,’ ‘Logistics,’ and ‘Change Management,’ I am part of the development team for the upcoming educational innovation this year. Lastly, I am supervising two projects with a strong focus on both professional and personal development. The latter is a particularly important aspect for me. By being open, making myself vulnerable, and sharing my own story, I try to make students aware of this. And ultimately, I hope to get them just as excited as I am!

I fulfilled my dream and embarked on a (personal) journey of discovery that ultimately lasted 480 days and took me to five countries (Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, Myanmar, and India).During this trip, I gained a wealth of new experiences, both inside and outside my comfort zone, including working in near-complete isolation and eventually taking full responsibility on a cattle station (the size of 50% of the Netherlands), driving solo around Australia in a 4WD (28,000 km), renovating a home on an organic farm, practicing Muay Thai kickboxing for two weeks in Thailand, and teaching English to underprivileged children in India for one month.

After three years, I was ready for a new challenge and sensed that our team needed more structure and guidance. In close consultation, I was able to shape the new role of team lead. On top of my responsibilities from my previous position, I was tasked with coaching and motivating the team (architecture). I led our weekly team meetings, was responsible for overall quality, and supported the achievement of targets wherever possible.During this phase, I wrote my thesis for my MBA in the evenings. In this research, I examined how ELLBRU could improve its customer experience using the building blocks of ‘service excellence.’ Through an extensive survey, I mapped out the existing customer journey. With these results and the recommendations from service excellence, I started building a new customer journey. The focus was on achieving excellent customer orientation, which would ultimately lead to an exceptional customer experience.

After completing an internship at ELLBRU, I was offered a contract, giving me the opportunity to combine my MBA studies with helping to build a young and dynamic secondment agency in the construction industry. Together with the two founders, I set out to carve our place in the secondment market with a completely unique approach. This approach proved successful, and within three years, we grew to nearly three million euros in revenue and had over 40 professionals working for our clients.During this challenging and educational period, I was always actively involved in shaping the company’s direction. I was closely involved in internal expansions as well as the organization’s strategy and policies. In addition to keeping my own clients and professionals satisfied, I also took on responsibilities such as setting up and optimizing our CRM system, writing an employee handbook, and onboarding new employees.

Together with three fellow board members, I was able to continue a young initiative from Bavaria, where we delivered chilled beer to students in Utrecht without delivery costs. In addition to daily operational management, I was responsible for financial accounting, payroll, and accounts receivable & payable as the treasurer.

Douglas, Zuid-Afrika

Through the minor People Planet Profit (PPP), I conducted three months of research in South Africa, where we developed a plan for sustainable housing for students engaged in development work in Douglas (275 km from Bloemfontein).

I paused my higher education for one year to serve full-time as a board member of the student association Unitas S.R. (over 1000 members). Together with six fellow board members, we were responsible for the daily operations of the society, with my specific role involving leading and motivating over 150 volunteers and managing the financial administration.
