After working for several years in a commercial role in the corporate world, I realized that the position didn’t provide me with the energy I needed. A 16-month adventure abroad followed, which helped me gain a much clearer sense of who I am and the values I want to pursue in my work. After an extensive search and 65 inspiring conversations, I discovered what my next step would be: education!I’ve been working in this field with great pleasure for almost four years now. This environment allows me to motivate, inspire, and support (young) people in their search for what makes them happy and energized – and that, in turn, energizes me.As a driver of change, I quickly became involved in our educational innovation. And although it’s a challenging process, I’ve found that I can channel my creativity, sensitivity, and entrepreneurship into it. On An Adventure AbroadWereldreis Oct 2018 - Feb 2020I fulfilled my dream and embarked on a (personal) journey of discovery that ultimately lasted 480 days and took me to five countries (Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, Myanmar, and India).During this trip, I gained a wealth of new experiences, both inside and outside my comfort zone, including working in near-complete isolation and eventually taking full responsibility on a cattle station (the size of 50% of the Netherlands), driving solo around Australia in a 4WD (28,000 km), renovating a home on an organic farm, practicing Muay Thai kickboxing for two weeks in Thailand, and teaching English to underprivileged children in India for one month. -

In close consultation, I was able to shape the new role of team lead. On top of my responsibilities from my previous position, I was tasked with coaching and motivating the team (architecture). I led our weekly team meetings, was responsible for overall quality, and supported the achievement of targets wherever possible.During this phase, I wrote my thesis for my MBA in the evenings. In this research, I examined how ELLBRU could improve its customer experience using the building blocks of ‘service excellence.’ Through an extensive survey, I mapped out the existing customer journey. With these results and the recommendations from service excellence, I started building a new customer journey. The focus was on achieving excellent customer orientation, which would ultimately lead to an exceptional customer experience. -
