About Jo Qualmann

I'm a passionate social policy professional with experience across range of portfolios, including violence prevention, child protection, First Nations policy, and education policy in Queensland. I have worked across the spectrum of policy work, including in strategic policy and policy development, policy implementation, cross-agency coordination, Estimates coordination, diversity and inclusion and project management. As an aspiring public sector leader, I also have a strong interest in promoting an inclusive and diverse public service, and policy making that reflects the needs of the diverse Queensland community. As a graduate in 2016, I pitched and developed the first Queensland public sector LGBTIQ+ inclusion strategy and established a 150+ member network for LGBTIQ+ employees and allies.In 2023, I completed my Masters in Public Administration through Griffith University, including undertaking research for my dissertation on senior executive women in the Queensland Public Service.I acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Elders of the land on which I live and work in Meanjin, Brisbane, as well as those on whose land I grew up - the Widjabul people of the Bundjalung Nation - and that their sovereignty was never ceded.
