Hello there. My name is Jordan and I am a Chemist in the Finals Laboratory in Baxter for over 2 years, having earned a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Forensic Investigation and Analysis from Atlantic Technological University Sligo. I chose to study science and chemistry because I love science and chemistry. I have loved science since childhood, and I still get a thrill walking into the lab every day. Science is my passion. My journey in Baxter so far:I initially began in the Wet Chemistry section of the lab, where I carried out amongst other tests:-pH testing-manual and auto titrations-polarimetry and -UV spectrometry. I then pivoted my skills to instrumentation chemistry, where I operated an Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS) for approximately 1 year. During my time on AAS, I honed my skills through daily testing of the concentration of Calcium and Magnesium in different product types.I also carried out documented daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on the instrument, whilst continuing to test product batches to tight release deadlines. During my time on AAS, I was named as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the instrument. Since April of 2023, I have operated two Skalar San++ Continuous Flow Analyzers, testing the concentration of Dextrose, Chloride, and Calcium in products. Due to the high sensitivity of this instrument, the system requires constant, diligent maintainence on a daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis. Again, this was done whilst continuing to meet stringent product release deadlines. I am also named as the SME on this instrument. Apart from the skills and experience mentioned, I am highly self-motivated and always enjoy the challenge of both improving my current skills, and learning new ones. I consider myself to be a diligent, dedicated and organised employee, who takes a great deal of pride in his work, and who has shown a high degree of adaptability in my current role to date.
