I'm a full-stack programmer / engineer with 12 years of professional experience. I have written c#, java, php, python, bash, golang, ruby and (most recently) javascript. Over the last 7 years, I've gravitated towards building large systems and ergonomic tools for devops teams, primarily, so I have a healthy level of exposure to–and comfort with–industry standard tooling including ansible, terraform, the hashicorp suite (mostly consul/vault, but a bit of vagrant/packer), k8s, docker, compose, etc. I've also worked closely with SRE teams and am comfortable building monitoring/observability pipelines and systems (datadog, elk stack, prometheus, sysdig, netdata, etc). I have a solid leadership track-record, and am a highly skilled incident-commander/debugger/firefighter.My most recent engagement (18 months) was with a "no-code" platform called Unqork. I was hired to design, build, then operate/extend a distributed subsystem to help the devops team manage our growing number of k8s clusters and offer self-service APIs for modifying infrastructure to internal support users and customers. I led the effort (dubbed the "Platform Control Plane") and started as the primary contributor, then worked to scale the team and mentor programmers as they familiarized themselves with the system. As a devops lead (then eventually manager), my role also included standard devops responsibilities: on-call shifts, debugging, systemwide maintenance, and root-cause analysis.My prior role started as the kernel of a nascent frontend engineering team. Once I had stabilized that team and the codebase, I was offered the opportunity to build a greenfield process management daemon. We needed to package our platform to enable customers to self-host, so we chose to pursue a role-specific multi-process container architecture. My daemon was responsible for configuring and booting all processes that needed to run in those containers. I also provided advanced functionality like a job runner API, a cross-container control-plane layer, an advanced health-checking subsystem, and self-healing capabilities. While working on this I also developed an extensive performance-debugging IDE and load generation utilities custom-fit to improve our products performance and stability.I like to lead "from-the-front", so to speak, but understand the importance of delegation and individual ownership. I'm flexible about tooling/stack, and am happy/willing to learn any technologies with which I am unfamilar; I am not dogmatic nor married to my existing skillset or knowledge.
