When people ask me " Where are you from" I say "here" and at first, they don't understand what I mean. That's because I am a proud Indigenous woman, born and raised in the state of Virginia, though I did spend summers in Oklahoma, where all of my family resides on the Muskogee Reservation. I am very proud of my Indigenous roots and hope to learn the language of my people soon.Currently, I work at a factory where we Press Vinyl Records! It's pretty cool, interesting and also hard work at times. I am currently working the press machines where we press the vinyl, got to press some pretty big names!Although pressing some big name records, is pretty cool and the people I work with are also pretty cool, what I did before was also pretty neat I think. Before pressing vinyl, I would call myself a Tooth fairy who worked at a tooth factory, because I was Dental Lab Technician! I really enjoyed my time at the lab and I do wish to go back to the Lab side of things eventually, as there were more skills I was interesting in learning. Sometimes you just need a break from something you been doing for the last 8 years, refresh yourself and then get on back into it!So if it is learning how to handle and work pressing machines, or learning how to mill teeth out of zirconia, I am a pretty fast learner, especially when my trainer is thorough, patient and willing to answer any and all of my questions (because I do ask a lot of them!) and is still willingly to help me out, at the end of it all, is something I appreciate and would make me want to work for that person/company.
