I chase breaking news, assist reporters and support CNN’s National News Hub in the New York City news bureau. I pitch and produce weekly national news stories focused in the northeastern region of the United States. During election season, I contributed to CNN's Election Night coverage by assisting editors and reporters on the Voting Desk. Throughout the internship, I have displayed ability to research, write, and deliver content under tight deadlines.

I research a variety of topics surrounding ethics in journalism to provide content for the initiative. I contributed to EJI’s free “Best Practices” resources category that provides readers with the best advice in an ethical journalism bind. I pitched ethical journalism ideas for EJI director Stephen Adler to cover in the monthly newsletter based on everyday ethical journalism situations. I also support the organization of EJI events by registering guests as well as assisting with the set up and breakdown of events. On top of that, I photograph EJI events and help produce social media content.

As a local news intern, I produced over 20 compelling news stories focusing on the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area that demonstrating strong research, writing, and editing skills. I pitched and developed unique story ideas specific to the DMV region, highlighting local events, crime, and human interest stories to engage a diverse audience. This internship brought out one of my passions in local news reporting; profiling prominent figures in the community. Throughout the internship, I collaborated effectively with editors to refine story angles, meet strict deadlines, and ensure accurate and timely delivery of assignments, maintaining a high standard of journalistic integrity and quality.

I worked dually on the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and breaking news desks at The Baltimore Sun. I produced over 25 stories throughout the 10-week internship and contributed reporting to several articles. During the first half of my internship, I worked on the DEI desk where I wrote several stories on unique communities like the LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations and African American community's Juneteenth holiday recognition. I also wrote several newsmaker profiles on standouts in the city of Baltimore making a difference. On the emerging news desk, I wrote daily stories on events impacting the Baltimore region and produced long-term enterprise stories.

I served in a leadership role of the student newspaper as editor-in-chief throughout my junior and senior year of college. In my position, I edited stories, oversaw all sections of the paper and maintained newsroom organization. Although I primarily served as an editor, I also produced a podcast and wrote several breaking news stories. After three years on staff, I walked away with 100+ bylines covering Morgan State University news, politics, crime, safety, and more; interviews with President Joe Biden, Governor Wes Moore, Pete Buttigieg, Morgan State University President David Wilson, David Talbert, and the cast of All American: Homecoming; producing of the first ever special edition Spokesman magazine; an invite to the White House for HBCU Student Press Briefing with Vice President Kamala Harris and Keisha Lance Bottoms; host of the first Spokesman-own Maryland gubernatorial forum; publishing over 200 stories in my time of leadership.

After two semesters serving as a staff writer, I was promoted to the Features editor position where I produced the style and entertainment coverage for the student run news publication. I collaborated with staff writers to assign story ideas.

I covered over 40 stories ranging from features to sports, campus news, politics, and more during two semesters with MSU’s premiere student-run news publication. As a member of the staff, I contributed original photography, including reporting, to enliven the Spokesman’s coverage and ensure members of the MSU community are fully reflected in its pages.

I covered live breaking news events and day-to-day news coverage in a variety of topics. Some of my reporting highlights were the nationwide March for Our Lives demonstration in Washington, D.C., March Fourth rally for Highland Park and Uvalde mass shooting survivors at the U.S Capitol, and providing live updates for the 2022 Kentucky floodings and Evansville, Indiana house explosion. During my internship, I developed news monitoring skills through Dataminr, Google Trends, AP, etc.

I covered local and breaking news during my editorial news internship at Patch. During my internship, I published an in-depth feature story and photo essay. I also gained skills with deadline reporting, search engine optimization, and more throughout my time at Patch.

I participated in a 10-day digital media workshop with the class of 2021 interns selected for a Dow Jones News Fund internship. Our team created a multimedia project to personify small owned businesses bouncing back during the COVID-19 pandemic. I created a photo essay focusing on a local restaurant in my hometown that faced challenges through the pandemic.

I participated in small-group, seminar-style weekly workshops hosted by top reporters and editors covering a wide range of insights on news gathering, photojournalism, and investigative reporting.
