CAD lead for BOP 3 on site at Hinkley Point C

Hinkley Point C – BIM Coordinator / Engineering Technician:Jordan joined Atkins at the start of the HPC Roads and Networks project and has created and maintained many of the BIM protocols. The role involved creation of the 3D model templates, styles, layers and objects but also to create a complete project wide 3D parts catalogue to the client’s specification. Other duties included assisting the BIM manger with data storage, connectivity and the BIM execution plan, acting as the go to guy with BIM related queries and set up of model files for each project discipline. ProjectWise and Microsoft Teams being the CDE of the project.3D modelling lead for gravity networks. The role was to lead the modelling capabilities for three underground gravity networks on HPC. This involved full time 3D modelling, whilst overseeing junior colleagues in the UK and India to complete work on time and to the client’s specification.

Hinkley Point C – Digital EngineerThe responsibilities as a Digital Engineer are vast and very versatile. From co-ordination of 3D steel reinforcement models alongside 3D concrete models to 3D modelling of temporary works. Jordan’s role involved all aspects of engineering design and construction, working alongside office and site-based engineers to complete objectives in line with the construction 16-week program.Temporary Works. Jordan spent 12 months, working in the temporary works team at Hinkley Point C using Autodesk Revit. Creating temporary work solutions for the pre-construction team. Models were created and developed, resulting in drawings being produced straight from the model data.Other tasks relating to the role of digital engineer:• Reviewing external consultant’s 3D design models against agreed guidelines and specification making sure all necessary design standards have been followed. Liaising at all stages with stakeholders• Checking and creating Hinkley Point C coding for use in the Common Data Environment (CDE)• Clash detection using Autodesk Navisworks and model comparisons using Solibri model checker• 3D models reviewed and coordinated on time following a strict 16-week construction programme• Buildability issues formally raised to the site team or the external consultants• 3D modelling of formwork/false work using contractor’s designs• Modelling lifting drawings to engineers’ specifications• Site visits to check on progress

I joined BuroHappold as a college leaver within the Infrastructure & Environment group, also studying part time.My main responsibilities as a Technician involved the co-ordination of underground utilities on various high profile projects. This includes BIM-enabled project modelling and providing BIM data creation and following national BIM project delivery criteria. I provided 3D modelling services in AutoCAD Civil 3D for all existing and proposed below ground utilities and by utilising Autodesk Navisworks.
