Jordan Gertis Email and Phone Number
As long as I can remember, I have been captivated by how neighborhoods are formed, the structural elements of commercial buildings, and how buildings can support weight and force. This interest has evolved into a passion for architecture and engineering, where design meets precision, and innovation shapes society. As a sophomore at the University of Washington, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in Architectural Studies, I am eager to explore, learn, and contribute to a field that has captivated me for my whole life. Civil engineering is a field that exhilarates me because of the opportunity to mix design and STEM to design a better world for the future. From sustainable structures to green urbanism, it is a field where I can amass my analytical mindset with a passion for problem-solving, design, and social justice. At the UW, I have had the opportunity to take architectural studies and engineering foundational courses which have allowed me to gain valuable skills for my future. My combination of academic commitment and a passionate drive to understand the built environment from multiple viewpoints makes me confident in my qualifications. My coursework has provided me with an understanding of computer-aided design, mechanics, form and function, and design's cultural impact. Beyond my coursework, I am enthusiastic to apply my knowledge with hands-on projects in the civil engineering industry. I am constantly seeking new opportunities to expand my skill set, whether it is through student organizations or projects. My goal is to be a part of shaping the world around me in a way that creates a better and more sustainable future. I look forward to developing my skills by learning from industry professionals and collaborating with my peers so that one day I can create structures that have a lasting impact on society.
