As an industrial engineer I supported the manufacturing production line of the Hawkei Protected Vehicle. I assisted in the implementation of the changes made to the vehicle by the design engineering team. I also investigated and deployed any changes that needed to be made that were identified be the shop floor operators and their superiors.

As a Business Systems Graduate, I added value to the production line, and other business applications through data analytics and report development. This included working with Power Query M Language, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and Microsoft’s Power BI to develop feature rich, intuitive reports. This required intimate knowledge about the production line manufacturing process for the Hawkei protected mobility vehicle.

Worked on a functional prototype for a defence contractor. With my team we created a medium sized (~1m long) autonomous rover. My role in the project was primarily the software development. It utilised a combination of sensors to navigate the world, including GPS and two-dimensional lidar. It also found its targets using neural network powered object recognition and satellite imagery.

As part of the Work Integrated Learning program for the Bachelor of Engineering degree. Worked primarily as a software engineer, developing a functional prototype of a product that interfaced with external peripherals. It manipulated and displayed data on a touchscreen device in a user-friendly manner. I also did extensive investigation and design of a closed-loop controller for a non-linear system.

Developed with a Raspberry Pi to stream video via a UDP Ethernet connection to a PC, and to receive commands from the PC to control servos and more. This was for a robot that had the ability to inspect the integrity of the interior of concrete pipes.

Presented work and designs to the Deputy Premiere of Victoria James Merlino and Engineers Australia CEO Stephen Durkin. Worked in a team developing a prototype telepresence robot. Primarily working on mechanical design, such as complex lofts for the outer-shell, product design focusing on aesthetics and manufacturability, managing mechanical documentation. I also did software development for the robot, setting up a control layer for a brain-control interface to control the mobile robot.
