FounderIiii Magazine Jan 2018 - PresentManchester, United KingdomFounder and editor-in-chief of iiii Magazine — an online publication featuring bold writing on art and culture, based in Manchester and London. iiii publishes short fiction, reviews, poetry, interviews, and essays from established and emerging writers. iiii promotes bold voices, buried narratives, and literary flair. iiii likes incisive criticism, oddities and the pell-mell, and iiii likes humour. Therefore iiii intends not to limit contributions on subject matter, but instead to constellate them around a guiding principle of the act of writing. My work at iiii Magazine involves planning and scoping editions, acquiring and editing written contributions, interviewing people of interest and writing supplementary texts, art direction and graphic design, writing and producing videos, and social media.

Freelance EditorCanvas8 Sep 2018 - Nov 2018Canvas8 is the UK’s leading cultural insights practice. We explore the intersection between human sciences, industry and popular culture to understand how people's behaviour is changing, and the impacts of these shifts. Our flagship product is the Canvas8 Library, a digital publication featuring over 22,000 articles spanning 14 industries and nine key markets, subscribed to by global creative agencies. Supported by a network of experts, including MIT fellows, published authors, and industry leaders, we analyse and report on human behaviour to educate and inspire brands and agencies worldwide. Authoritative yet accessible, our work is about investigating the hidden insights in everyday life and the quirks of human behaviour. For Canvas8, I commission and edit in-depth reports on culture, society, and human behaviour for a broad range of clients — including major news networks, charities, and Silicon Valley's biggest technology companies. I work with a team of in-house and freelance writers who deliver well-informed, on-the-ground perspectives on what’s impacting people and the world around them. -

Media ManagerGeorge Twist Wholesale Ltd. Oct 2014 - Jan 2018Wigan, United KingdomI designed the retail website www.geetees.co.uk with an I.T. company Gravit-e. I orchestrate its workings, directing a team of two colleagues. I redefined all of the company’s online material to better represent the business’s personality. I create all of the visuals, designing promotional material, posters, and banner images. I manage the lucrative Christmas campaigns, organising and synchronising all marketing channels, as well as photographing the stock in the studio, and designing the year's aesthetic. I write and design all of our newsletters on Mailchimp. I grew our social media fanbase from less than 650 to nearly 6,000 people in two years, running competitions and writing interesting posts. Experience with CMS and SEO.

Junior Designer And CopywriterTara Books Jul 2014 - Oct 2015- Designing Tara's brochures advertising her new releases. - Curating an exhibition of Tara's special edition prints made by local artisans. - Discovering fair-trade practices, and the process of sourcing local materials in order to better serve the readership. - Learning about the active role of the publisher—not just in pre-press work, but in the actual formation of the idea.- The importance of 'community' in designing and finalising a book object. I also managed a project, working with a writer and an illustrator. I used the essence of the author's story—the fear of the unknown, and the magic of discovery—to inform the resultant aesthetic of the book. I then worked with an illustrator to decide how the author's characters should be realised. At Tara, I learned about a great many practical things—making forceful proposals; design debate; the publishing process; the designer–writer dichotomy, and working in tandem to realise a successful outcome; the traditional production methods of the artisan, against modern printing methods, and the importance of these considerations when producing work for a particular audience. But all of this paled into insignificance when pitted against my beginning to learn about the beauty of Indian traditional, tribal and folk art, the differences between them, and the artists who create it. -
